The service will be launched from Huda City Centre Metro station, where anyone can hop on and hop off and pay for the journey. They will be charged Rs 25 for the first 3 km and Rs 5 per km thereon. A local startup called MTaxi is the force behind this new service that flags off with 10 100cc commuter bikes. All the bikes will have commercial registration numbers and will bear yellow number plates.
Though the service will initially start as a hailing taxi service, a mobile app will soon be launched for the on-demand bike taxi model. Keeping in mind the issue of safety for women in the infamous NCR, women riders are set to be recruited soon. All the bikers will also carry an extra helmet for the pillion rider for ensuring safety while disposable caps and wet tissues will warrant hygiene. The startup also plans to introduce scooters for the convinience of senior citizens in the near future. Special insurance packages have also been designed by MTaxi which will not only cover the riders but also the passengers while they are commuting in the 'taxi'.
