The 40-year-old actor was in the passenger seat of a Porsche Carrera GT that crashed at high speed and burst into flames in Santa Clarita, California, on 30 November 2013. Walker died of the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries, while the driver, his friend Roger Rodas, died of multiple traumatic injuries. No drugs or alcohol were detected in either of the departed.
Paul Walker Sr.'s protest comes after his granddaughter Meadow Rain had also recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche. Notably, this is now the third lawsuit in this, case taking into account Roger Rodas' wife Kristine's complaint against Porsche. Her lawsuit was initiated more than a year ago and Kristine motivated her decision by claiming "the Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose."
In their defense, Porsche had earlier issued a statement saying that Roger Rodas was the only one responsible for the accident as he was speeding at 93 mph (150 km/h) in a 45 mph (72 km/h) area. In addition, the automaker previously mentioned that the Carrera GT was "altered from its original design", wasn't "maintained properly", and at least two of its tires were nine years old.
