The Chevrolet Camaro. The Ford Mustang. You can put any of the two on the top billing and it still wouldn’t matter. These two pony cars have always been the epitome of American muscle. That’s been the case for generations and, as sure as the sky is blue, that still holds true to this day. Even special variants of the two will always end up being compared to one another. In this case, I’m talking about the Mustang Shelby GT350R and the Camaro Z/28 and it’s only fitting that Motor Trend was able to wrangle up both ponies for its latest episode of “Head 2 Head.”
The 25-minute episode dives deep into the core of both the Mustang Shelby GT350R and the Camaro Z/28. Head 2 Head host Jason Cammisa took up the challenge of putting both muscle cars through a series of challenges to determine which of the two reigns supreme as Detroit’s finest pony. There’s a dyno shoot out between the two. There’s also a drag race because, well, muscle car comps like this wouldn’t be complete without one. Cammissa and race car driver Randy Pobst even found the time to do some hot laps around the Chuckawall Valley Raceway to determine which of the two can post the faster lap time and which handles better around all the challenging twists and turns of the track.
I’m not going to spoil the results because that’s only going to ruin the fun, right? Just know that this is another Mustang vs Camaro challenge. That in itself is reason enough to watch the episode from start to finish.
