According to witnesses, the remains of regional legislative deputy and a member of Vladmir Putin's United Russia Party Oksana Bobrovskaya, 30, and her former military special services husband, Nikita, were found naked from the waist down in the wreckage. Police have initially said that a grenade caused the explosion as they don't suspect any terrorist hand behind the shocking incident.
Sources have told the police that the husband may have detonated the bomb in a fit of jealousy after the couple had an argument with Nikita accusing Oksana of cheating on him.
According to The Siberian Times, a police source said, 'There is a version that he held in his hands a kind of grenade, or a piece of TNT.' While another Russian newspaper reported that the couple had a 'conflict' and that when the explosives went off, their faces were 'disfigured'.
Yet the mayor of Novosibirsk, Anatoly Lokot, put down the claims and said the death of the MP was due to family problems.
A witness, who lives close to where the explosion took place, said: 'It was horrific andndash; something you would not wish anyone to see. No heads, glass covered in blood andhellip; a nightmare.' The couple, who lost their lives in this ridiculous incident, are survived by a 4-year-old daughter.
