Ferrari has re-started operations in India after inaugurating a new showroom in Delhi, appointing Select Cars Pvt Ltd as the Ferrari Dealer.
"We have many loyal owners and Ferrari fans in Delhi and this new showroom will help them get even closer to the iconic brand. With great experience in the luxury car market, Select Cars is our preferred choice for this partnership in the capital region and we are confident that as our partners they will create more value for our ever increasing customer base," said Enrico Galliera, Senior Vice President, Commercial andamp; Marketing, Ferrari SpA.
The new showroom becomes Ferrari's only official dealership in New Delhi and will be the first in India, followed by a second showroom to be inaugurated in Mumbai. The Italian brand plans to expand its sales and service operations, re-entering India for a second after terminating its first outing and partnership in India ended in 2014 with the Shreyans Group, due to customer complaints.
"It has been a learning curve. This time we were very careful. So, the process of selection was long enough, but based on finding the right partner. So, instead of having one single partner for India, we decided to have one local partner in New Delhi, and one local partner in Mumbai, so that they are more in touch with the local community, the market, that was the first part," Galliera added.
"Secondly, every single partner is selected based on his experience. The new partners we selected are well represented in the market, with years of experience and they are passionate about the brand too. The third point we are doing this time is that we are having all the facilities together andndash; both sales and after sales. Additionally, every single person, every single employee, has been trained to give this message across to the customer."
Already, there has been considerable interest from prospective customers. Although Ferrari refused to divulge any numbers, officials are excited at the brand's prospects and say the response over the past six months have exceeded expectations. And the past six months, the brand has been busy putting the infrastructure in place.
"We hired some staff from the Middle East, who have already been working in Ferrari and wanted to come back to India, some of our senior mechanics have already been to Dubai for training, to Italy for training. They have gone for 3-4 course of training in Ferrari. So, these six months there has been a lot of background work. All these guys are trained to handle any Ferrari in our service station," said Yadur Kapur, Director, Select Cars Pvt Ltd.
The new showroom can accommodate up to three cars in the display area and will offer a hallmark service with a personalization area to support the customer to uniquely configure their Ferrari.
