Aston Martin's AM-RB 001 Hypercar Is A Sign Of Things To Come

The AM-RB 001 is still shrouded in a lot of secrecy, but the hype surrounding the ultra limited hypercar is now extending into possible new models that could be born from the technology developed by the Aston Martin – Red Bull collaboration. One of these models is a new mid-engined supercar that could make up one of the seven models the British automaker has planned as part of its “Second Century” expansion strategy.

Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman recently sat down with The Drive to discuss the AM-RB 001. The conversation steered into what Aston Martin’s plans are after the AM-RB 001 and that was when Reichman commented on a diversification plan that would eventually feature a mid-engine supercar. Details surrounding the model is unlikely to be divulged anytime soon considering that Reichman admitted that the model isn’t in the pipeline anytime soon.

While that may douse the excitement a little bit, the fact that the wheels are already moving beyond the AM-RB 001 is a sign that Aston Martin isn’t going to put the technologies and developments made for the hypercar to waste. At the very least, they’re not going to live and die on the ultra limited model. Aston Martin is known for making the most out of its projects, something that we all saw upon the introduction of the DB11 whose design, or at least some of it, was inspired by no less than the One-77.

For what it’s worth, a number of models have already been identified as part of Aston Martin’s planned seven-car lineup. There is, of course, the DB11. Then there are the new versions of the Vanquish and the Vantage, both of which already on the pipeline. A new Lagonda SUV and the DBX electric crossover are also scheduled to be unveiled soon. That leaves two yet-to-be identified models, one of which could end up being this mid-engine supercar that will sprout from the seeds of the AM-RB 001.
