Mixed in with the dizzying array of Gen 6 Camaros in the Chevrolet booth is a handsome but innocuous-looking 1970 Camaro RS. The classic Camaro serves as a reminder of the muscle car’s storied history, but it’s also a convenient place to display Chevrolet Performance’s new LT4 crate engine.
Even though it’s the motivational force behind the Corvette Z06, the LT4 isn’t all that exciting on a stand by itself. So, Chevrolet Performance shoehorned it into a 1970 Camaro RS, to help whet the appetites and imaginations of hot rodders who’d be happy to find a use for the most powerful production car engine GM has ever produced. The crate LT4 can be used in custom cars, street rods, trucks and just about any other application that the imagination can come up with. It’s available as a dry- or wet-sump engine, and Chevrolet Performance offers air conditioning and accessory drive kits for a range of applications.
Will any of them be more attractive than this Gen 2 Camaro RS, though? The challenge has been made!
